Freedom of Information Act

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is committed to acting in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR).

FOIA gives the public the right to request any recorded information held by public bodies such as the Combined Authority, while EIR provides a similar right of access to environmental information.

In order for a request under to be valid it must:

  • Be in writing for FOIA requests (EIR requests can be made verbally);
  • State your name and an address for correspondence; and
  • Describe the information you are requesting.

Making a request is free of charge (charges may apply for things such as photocopying and postage), and the Combined Authority will respond within 20 working days.

The requested information will be provided unless an exemption or exception applies, such as commercial sensitivity or it contains third party personal information, or if responding would take more than 18 hours of work. If the latter is the case, the Combined Authority will let you know what information could be provided within this time.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner if you believe that the Combined Authority have failed to fulfil our obligations under either FOIA or EIR. Contact details for the Commissioner, along with guidance on the legislation, can be found at www.ico.org.uk.
